Music Production vs. DJing

Music Production vs. DJing For me this has to be one of the strangest, yet most interesting concepts in being an electronic musician... As a music producer you are working on your own time for your own self making music that you love. Production is a solitary process even in times of collaboration. But DJing is a collective process, it's about feeling the room... vibing with crowds.. If there is one thing I have learned this crazy year it would have to be: Set your standards higher than the highest expectations of your fans and you have success. I met a beautiful girl tonight, only to find she was a pessimist, she talked about how all her old relationships were guys similar to me, guys with intense passion and dreams. This definitely felt disconcerting but I found myself in an interesting place. She was someone who didn't try, She was someone who just wanted to remain. I realized the difference. It was comfort versus growth. Whenever we grow too comfortable, we aren't pushing our limits. So in order to be our best selves, to allow the best flow for a good life... We must push onward! p.s. this kind of went off tangent from the subject-heading, but hey I'm a musician, not a writer!

Who needs drugs? Merely existing and being aware of the universe is the greatest 'trip' of them all.

How does one deal with the seemingly impossible to conceptualize reality of existence? The innate non-possibility of not only full understanding but conceptualized retention of any thought near that caliber!

Not settling for summer.

I think that the key to successful music production is to look at it as a war rather than a battle. In a battle everything happens at once, all of your chips thrown down at once so to speak. In a war however, The smallest intricacies given the recurrence of time become large monumental things. It is quintessential to become a skilled planner, disorganization is unacceptable. The interesting thing is that you must be against your self, your worst self. The lazy side of you that wants short term emotional gratifications. The part that says "Just do it tomorrow," the problem with this is that waiting for tomorrow is an unreliable platform to base a life on if it has difficult aspirations and dreams.
